We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. The time and effort invested in wellness programs have rewards for both pets and owners. Wellness programs include physical exam, internal parasite testing, heartworm and flea control, vaccinations, spay and neutering, microchipping and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Nutritional Counseling
Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy, and active. We recommend and stock Science Diet and Purina maintenance and prescription foods. We can special order others for you when necessary.
Behavioral Medicine
Illness doesn’t always have a physical cause. We help determine appropriate treatments for separation anxiety, obsessive behavior and puppy behavior problems, as well as cat behavior issues.
Surgery
Every patient is unique and we tailor our anesthetic protocols to your pet’s needs. Surgical services and facilities include fully trained doctors and technical staff to ensure the safest procedures for your pet. Routine procedures are performed Monday through Friday. Referral for specialty surgeries are made as needed.
Dental Cleaning
Annual professional dental cleaning is important to maintain your pet’s oral and overall health. An ultrasonic scaler is used to clean each tooth thoroughly, both above and below the gum line. When necessary, extractions or minor oral surgery may be performed. The teeth are then polished to create a smooth tooth surface which is more resistant to plaque buildup.
Laboratory
An inside look at your pet’s health may help us with an overall picture of what may be going on with your pet. We offer routine serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We use these processes to screen for normal organ function before anesthesia or to aid in diagnosis when your pet is ill. Blood tests done on a regular basis also let us monitor your pet’s health over its lifetime and enable us to detect any potential problems early on. Many of these are able to be performed in-house, but we utilize commercial veterinary laboratories when needed.
Imaging
Digital radiography enhances our veterinarians’ diagnostic abilities. It provides diagnostics for late term pregnancies (puppy counts), abdominal and soft tissue problems, chest, orthopedic cases, and lung or bone tumors. Ultrasonography may also be added to your pet’s health care plan when appropriate.
Soft Tissue Laser Therapy
We are pleased to be able to offer this unique service which aids in the healing process and speeds recovery times. This service is included with routine surgeries when appropriate and may also be added to your pet’s treatment plan for other ailments such as arthritis and chronic pain, wound healing, ear infections and gingival stomatitis-a mouth disease of cats.
Hospice/Euthanasia Services
Saying goodbye to a long-time friend is painful. We understand how hard it may be and strive to work with clients to ensure their pet’s comfort, dignity and quality of life as they age. We also aid in the decision process of when it may be the right time to make that difficult choice for your pet. Additional services include ceramic paw prints and cremation services.
